The Characteristics and application of ceramic valves
1.1 Al2O3 ceramic is the earliest ceramic material into the traditional valve industry, its hardness reaches to 90HRA, and bending strength reaches to 350MPA. Although the brittleness is larger, but it has good molding and sintering properties, high rate of finished products . In the harsh industrial environment,generally we attach alumina ceramic work pieces to the surface of the metal matrix by inlaying, bonding, etc., which not only uses metal as a support to solve the lack of brittleness and low bending strength of ceramic, but also exerts its ultra-high hardness to protect the metal material. At present,ceramic lined double disc gate valves and ceramic lined rotary disc gate valves are mainly produced in this way, which is suitable for wear and erosion under low temperature and corrosive conditions to prolong and improve the service life of the valve.
1.2 The sealing pair material of ceramic ball valve and ceramic butterfly valve is ZrO2 ceramic. ZrO2 ceramics have more prominent excellent properties than other ceramic materials. Stable chemical properties, ZrO2 ceramic can withstand the erosion of most existing corrosive media. High strength, hardness up to 87HRA, bending strength up to 1150MPA.Roundness precision of ceramic ball is high, good surface quality, and after grinding with the valve seat and ceramic ball, the self-lubrication of ZrO2 ceramic can be reduced to the operating torque and also make the valve has good sealing performance. ZrO2 ceramics and metal materials have similar expansion coefficient, so that the ceramic and metal materials can be synchronized at various temperature.
